Maria Roddy-Freyne

Trainer, Revenue Management, Sales & Marketing

Maria Roddy-Freyne has over 25 years’ experience in the Hospitality Industry, She joined Conor Kenny & Associates in 2009 and has been delivering exemplary workshops ever since.

Maria is an honours graduate from Cathal Brugha Street with a Master’s Degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management and a Master of Arts in Learning and Teaching.

Maria started her career in the United Kingdom with the Scottish Group Stakis Hotels. Maria returned to Ireland in 1997 and was involved in the opening of the Hilton Dublin City and later the Hilton Dublin Airport in 2005.

In 2009 Maria carried out research in partnership with Failte Ireland and the IHF (Irish Hotels Federation). This research focused on the area of "Developing and Optimising Event Space Revenues".

In 2006 Maria moved to her current role as a lecturer in Dundalk Institute of Technology where she lecturers on the Hospitality and Event Management Degree programme’s. Her main areas of interest include revenue management, event planning, project management, strategic management, business simulations and event and hospitality information technology.

Maria is currently an External Examiner for hospitality management programmes in Letterkenny Institute of Technology and has previously worked as an External Examiner for programmes in Event and Hospitality Management in the University of Westminster, Dublin Business School and Cork Institute of Technology. Maria has three children so her spare time is usually taken up with kids' activities and she spends a lot of time on the side-lines of football and soccer pitches and when not doing that she loves cycling, running and kettle bells.
