Employee Engagement and Motivation

Motivation is a fundamental topic in examining the role of psychology in workplaces. Essentially this session helps participants to develop a deeper understanding of what motivates people at work, how can motivation be managed, key debates in the area and practical tips to put immediately into practice.

This session commences with a simple case study in a customer-facing organisation and potential solutions are explored. Motivation is the reason why people work, and it drives them to work better. Therefore, managers try to find out what motivate workers and use their knowledge of such factors to encourage workers to work more effectively, with the aim of achieving higher productivity, increased output, and ultimately boosting the bottom line.

A central debate to this session will be the role of monetary reward to incentivise people to work harder. In resource-constrained environments, this session explores alternative and more effective approaches to driving performance and fostering fulfilment for employees.

Finally, the session considers the importance of fostering employee engagement within organisations. Related to work motivation, this session explores how managers can create fulfilling experiences for all generations at work, facilitating wellbeing and ultimately leading to greater customer satisfaction and business profit.
